Venice Family Clinic seeks an innovative and resourceful fundraiser to serve as its next Chief Development Officer. Venice Family Clinic’s mission is to provide quality primary health care to people in need. Founded in 1970, Venice Family Clinic has grown from an entirely volunteer-run operation in borrowed space into a community health system with 12 locations on the Westside of Los Angeles. The Clinic provides quality health care to 24,000 people with low incomes through over 100,000 patient visits annually. Particular emphasis is placed on the needs of women, children, the homeless, and those with chronic diseases. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for leading a multifaceted Development Department which obtains funds from both public and private sources. As a member of the senior management team involved in setting the direction of the overall organization, the CDO will be committed to Venice Family Clinic’s mission and be a key leader in sharing and promoting the Clinic’s mission and its work with donors, volunteers, community members, staff and patients. With an annual budget of close to $40 million, Venice Family Clinic has a development goal of $10 million dollars in private funds and in addition, the Development Team helps raise $8 million in public funds. The CDO should have a minimum of five to seven years of fundraising experience, management experience of diverse development professionals, and experience staffing board committees. The ability to passionately communicate Venice Family Clinic’s mission, accomplishments and the socio/economic benefits of its work are essential. Leading candidates will have a proven track record of raising significant support and proven success with annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate giving, contracts and grants, special events, capital campaigns and other campaigns. A background in health care issues and knowledge of the Los Angeles philanthropic community are preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required; a graduate degree is preferred. A CFRE is a plus.
