Assistant Director of Development

The Lobero Theatre Foundation’s Assistant Director of Development is a member of a dynamic fund raising team made up of Lobero Staff and Board of Directors, and is a key fundraising collaborator for the organization. Together they work to accomplish the Foundation’s mission, to achieve the minimum $1.2 million annual contributed income goal, and to accomplish other critical objectives such as capital upgrades and endowment fundraising. Staff members serve as ambassadors to the community and promote the theatre as the cornerstone of Santa Barbara’s cultural life.

The Assistant Director of Development will help provide the leadership to accomplish the multi-faceted fundraising goals of the Lobero Theatre Foundation, and will be involved in helping develop a long term and sustainable plan to ensure the viability of the organization. Responsibilities for this position include coordination of all Lobero (annual) Fund strategies and campaigns, and collaborating with the Director of Development, to whom they will report.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, management of corporate sponsorship prospects, on-going event support, active engagement within the in-house publication and significant involvement with the database, including gift entry, and prospect reporting.     

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is preferred or at least two years experience in a fundraising role with increasing responsibility and proven success, preferably in team/department management within a performing arts organization. Nights and weekends during the season, as well as out-of-office meetings and events are required. A track record of “in the field” experience in the use of fundraising best practices coupled with an openness to new and creative approaches in the identification, cultivation, acknowledgement, and stewardship of donors and potential donors at all levels is a necessity, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality. Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office, donor database software (Tessitura preferable), and use of internet-based tools for research are required.
